Salesmen Will Be
Salesmen

If a solar salesman
offered to sell you a system that provided you with a 20 year warranty instead
of the 25 year warranty that everyone else is offering, and a government
standardized performance rating that gave you not only a smaller rebate but also
resulted in a much longer payback period, and a product tolerance guaranty that
meant that you might only receive 91 % of the power that you paid for even
though the product was new, right out of the box, would you buy his system ?
Well you'd be
surprised to learn how many consumers received all of the above and even worse
when they bought a solar system for their home or business in the past year.
The sad truth is
that most consumers will pay far more attention to the specifications of a pair
of shoes that they might wear for the next year or two than they do when
investing $20,000.00 to $50,000.00 in a solar system that will be mounted to the
roof of their home for the next 30 to 40 years.

In fact most
consumers will base the choice of their solar system this year, entirely on the
brand of TV that's in their living room or the recommendations of a complete
stranger (a salesman) without ever taking a look the manufacturer's
specification sheet.
Here's Some Facts To Consider Before Making Your Purchase.
Fact Number 1.
It is very easy to confirm that some of the poorest performing solar products on
the market are being manufactured or represented by some of the biggest names in
the industry.
Fact Number 2.
If you're not comparing performance specifications when deciding on a solar
system, you will in almost 100% of all cases be leaving a substantial about of
the potential return on your investment behind.
Fact Number 3.
More than 95% of all consumers who will purchase a solar system this year will
substantially overpay for their system.
Fact Number 4.
At least 5% to possibly 10% of all U.S. solar purchases this year will result in
high risk for non warranty support due to the current economic crises.
Fact Number 5.
Salesmen are salesmen. All salesmen in the solar industry will emphasis their
product's strengths but no salesmen in the industry will voluntarily bring up
their product's weaknesses.
Fact Number 6.
(And this is the most important fact) It takes less than 30 minutes to learn how
to tell the difference between a great solar investment and a poorer one.
With more than a
dozen years in the solar industry we know what it takes to make a reliable, high
performance solar system. Published performance specifications rarely ever lie,
whereas a salesman's commission is based entirely on closing the sale and the
closing of a sale is dependent on how convincing the salesman's pitch is.
No matter what a
salesman says or doesn't say is irrelevant, it all boils down to a
manufacturer's financial stability and superior product specifications. A
product either meets or exceeds a certain level of performance and reliability
or it simply doesn't.
In the end, no
matter what the brand name, the product with the highest performance, the
highest reliability and the longest credible warranty will be the product that
puts the most money back into your pocket.
You wouldn't buy a
home without an appraisal, and a solar system should be no different. So we've
created the following 8 minimum standards that can be used to separate
products that simply perform, from the products that perform beyond expectation.
We've set the bar a
bit high but not so high that all 8 criteria are not attainable. In fact more
than a half dozen brands on the market do meet or exceed all eight minimum
performance levels that we've chosen.
